COVID-19 FAQ

How are we dealing with COVID-19?

Right now it is more important than ever to provide your employees with a healthy workplace. According to the Netherlands Nutrition Centre and the European Food Safety Agency (EFSA), no evidence has been found showing food as a possible source of transmission of the COVID-19 virus. Of course it is important to follow hygiene protocols and the guidelines laid down by the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM). Here is an update on how we are doing this.

What measures are we taking during the COVID-19 pandemic?

As well as adhering to the standard hygiene practices as prescribed by the hygiene code for uncut fresh vegetables, fruit and mushrooms, we have taken the following additional precautions:

  • Our employees stay home if they have any symptoms, however mild;
  • All employees are checked for symptoms at the beginning of each workday;
  • Our delivery vans are cleaned before each delivery round and drivers keep a bottle of disinfecting hand sanitiser in the cab;
  • Our drivers make no physical contact with customers during delivery on location;
  • Our employees keep to the 1.5 meters social distancing protocol during production, transport and at the office.

What are the standard hygiene practices?

Our production team is required to wear gloves and hair nets at all times. In addition each employee is required to wash his/her hands regularly in order to avoid cross-contamination.

Is it safe to consume fruit from a shared basket at the office?

Yes. We advise you to ask your employees to wash their hands thoroughly before they take a piece of fruit from the basket/crate/box. As an extra precaution the unpeeled fruit can be washed prior to consumption.

Is it possible to individually wrap the fruit?

No. The main reason is that there is no indication whatsoever that doing so would protect against transmission. Secondly, wrapping fruit in an additional layer does not prolong its freshness. And finally, individual wrapping in not in line with our vision on sustainability and our commitment to reducing unnecessary waste.

Do you have any alternative options for us to consider instead of our regular order?

Yes we do! We are happy to help you avoid even the slightest risk of contamination through contact if that makes you feel even safer. We have come up with five alternative products for you to choose from. Please contact us if you are interested or have any questions.

  • Alternative option 1: Bananas and mandarins - contains only fruit that needs to be peeled before consumption;

  • Alternative option 2: Fruit in a box with compartments - the fruit is delivered in a cardboard box with each piece of fruit in a separate compartment;

  • Alternative option 3: Donate your fruit delivery to a healthcare institution or a charity: through our donation campaign you can donate your fruit delivery to show your gratitude to healthcare professionals and provide them with healthy snacks during their work shifts;
  • Alternative option 4 (or as an additional option): Vitamin boost bag - an individual fruit bag for each employee, whether working from home or at the workplace;

  • Alternative option 5 (or as an additional option): Go nuts - an individual bag of nuts for each employee, whether working from home or at the workplace.

What happens to undelivered fruit?

We give it away! Rather than letting it go to waste, we are giving away a large amount of our excess fruit to local hospitals, healthcare institutions and food banks in order to support them through these difficult times. We are delighted that over 200 companies are supporting this donation campaign. Click here for an impression.
